A passenger plane with 16 people on board caught fire while making an emergency landing in southern Russia

Today, Sunday, the Russian Emergencies Ministry announced that a passenger plane with 16 people on board caught fire while it was making an emergency landing in the southern Irkutsk region.

“At 18.15 (Moscow time) on September 12, a message was received about a difficult landing of a twin-engine L-410 aircraft in the Irkutsk region, Kazachensko-Lensky district, 4 kilometers from the village of Kazaczynski”.

According to preliminary data, there were 14 people and two crew members on board. The Emergency Ministry forces moved to the scene immediately.

Preliminary information confirmed that all the passengers on the plane are alive, and there is one person among them who is in a critical condition.

“On the instructions of the head of the Russian Investigative Committee, a criminal case was filed regarding the occurrence of the accident under an article related to the violation of security rules,” the statement continued.
