Israel’s rhythmic gymnastics team withdraws from world championships

The International Gymnastics Federation announced today, Tuesday, that the Israeli rhythmic gymnastics team has withdrawn from the world championships in Japan.

The Israeli national team was permanently removed from the list of countries participating in the World Championship.
In an interview with Israeli media, Israeli coach Ella Samovalova said the decision not to go to the World Cup was not related to the consequences of the scandal with the Olympics refereeing.

The World Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships will be held in Kitakyushu, Japan from October 27-31.

At the rhythmic gymnastics competition in Tokyo, Russia’s Dina Averina was declared second in the individual race, and gold was won by Lina Ashram of Israel, who fell in her last performance.

After the games, President of the Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics (VFHG) Irina Viner Usmanova told “Sputnik” that the Russian side was preparing materials for the International Federation of Gymnastics (FIG) and would file a protest against the decision.
