With all the strangeness and perhaps miraculousness of the escape of the six Palestinian prisoners from the Israeli Gilboa prison, it remains one of the many strange escapes that occurred in modern history.
The last scientific study opened the door to remembering the strangest ways to escape from prisons around the world, and it is noted that these prisons were also described as “highly fortified”, and it was impossible to escape from them, but the hope for freedom is always stronger than all fortifications. Prisoners usually use whatever tools are available to them to help them escape, and these tools are often inappropriate, but they use them for their purpose.
Escape from the fortified prison
The Israeli authorities describe Gilboa prison as a “safe prison”, because its cells are built in the form of “safes.” Despite the prison’s fortifications, 6 Palestinian prisoners managed to escape from prison, in a process many described as a “miracle.”
Gilboa prison is designed in the form of separate sections that do not connect with each other, as if each section is a separate prison, and each exit from the section passes through internal paths surrounded by walls, wires and monitoring devices. It has five separate pavilions, to which the path passes through the same maze.
According to Israeli media, each cell was built using 66 tons of poured concrete, which is three times the weight of a cell in an ordinary prison. Below each safe, a material was placed on the ground, preventing excavation and revealing whether anyone had tried Excavations in them, and the floor of each “safe”, built with reinforced concrete and a layer of steel underneath, steel sheets, from which Israeli Merkava tanks are made.
In the prison, 72 cameras are installed that monitor every step inside the prison for 24 hours, and the prison is surrounded by guard dogs and reconnaissance devices, and the jailers perform daily security checks on the floors of the cells, toilets and iron nets.
Despite all these fortifications, the six managed to escape from prison, and although it has not yet been revealed how they escaped, it will remain one of the most bizarre escape operations in history.
miraculous escape
On a giant rocky island of about 890 square meters, located in the San Francisco Bay, called Alcatraz, a military prison was built. Theoretically, it is an impossible place to escape. If a prisoner managed to escape the guards, jumping high walls, he would find himself in a bay full of sharks, but prisoners Frank Lee Morris, the Anglin brothers and Alan West managed to escape already, in 1962 in a clever and thoughtful plan. They used all the tools available to them, even the nature of the island on which the prison is built.
The plan was divided into 3 sections, the first is to use the spoons they eat with to dig a tunnel that leads them out of the prison, and the second is to use wax and soap to make the heads of dolls that they put in their beds so that they can mislead the prison guards and think that they are sleeping, and the third section is Some life jackets were stolen and made out of a boat in which they sailed in the bay.
Indeed, they carried out their plan, and fortunately for them, one of the vacuum cleaners in the prison broke down, so Morris offered to repair it, who had learned some things from the arts of mechanics from one of the books he obtained from the prison library. Someone did what he had done, and he moved the motor to the escape dungeon and installed the head of an excavator who helped them in the process of digging the tunnel, and they actually succeeded in gaining time, although they rarely used it for fear of being exposed because of his voice.
Already the three of them sprang out of the hole they had made, climbed up the drainpipes, and headed toward a window for ventilation that was easy to dismantle, and they all got out of the prison and sped off into the bay before they were exposed.
The next day, the guards discovered the escape of the three prisoners, and that what lay in their beds were just dolls, they searched a lot for them and offered a reward to those who could report them, but all this did not reach them and the police suggested the death of the three, thus closing the case of their escape, with the promise of this scandal, Alcatraz prison was closed And transferring prisoners to separate prisons within the United States.
The biggest surprise is a photo published showing the two brothers who escaped from prison alive and the residence of John and Clarence Anglin on a farm in Brazil in 1975.
Escape by helicopter
In 2018, the prisoner Radwan Fayed, 46, escaped from a French prison in an unconventional way, as he managed to escape with the help of people armed with Kalashnikovs, escaping through a helicopter that landed in the prison courtyard.
Fayed was serving a 25-year prison sentence in Rio prison, south of Paris, after being convicted of armed robbery and killing a policewoman in 2010 in a failed robbery.
Although they are an unknown method of escape, it was not the first to use the plane to escape, as Pascal Payet had previously escaped twice, in the same way using a stolen helicopter.
Pascal assisted the escape of other prisoners using the same method of helicopters.

Escape with a fake gun
In the 1930s, American gangster John Herbert Dillinger became famous as one of the most dangerous bank robbers in his gang.
The American police called him “Enemy No. 1” for the many crimes he committed and his gang members, while some considered him a popular hero because the banks at the time were blamed for the depression period in the United States of America, and he was distributing some of the money he stole to the poor.
Dillinger was arrested after a robbery and imprisoned until 1933, but he managed to escape by helping members of his gang impersonating officers, and in 1934 Dillinger was arrested in Arizona and sent to Indiana to face a charge of killing a policeman, but some short time in Crown Prison Point, Indiana managed to escape even though this prison was described as a “fortified prison”, strange is the way in which Dillinger escaped from the prison, where he made a wooden pistol and painted it black and then varnished shoes, and threatened with prison guards and managed to capture them, and escaped easily And then he was killed by members of the American police.
Dillinger’s story was turned into a movie in 2009, titled “Public Enemies”, starring Johnny Depp, and won several awards.
Escape with a magic key
In January 1995 one of the strangest escape routes was recorded, this time in the United Kingdom, where three prisoners used the power of observation to memorize the shape of the warden’s key, and managed to make a replica of it by working in a blacksmith’s workshop in the prison.
They also made all the tools needed for their prison escape including a 25-foot steel ladder and a “homemade” rifle, and they actually made it out of prison, and were caught 4 days later, trying to plot a plan to steal a plane.
