A group of current and former employees of the American company, “Apple”, began inviting their colleagues to share stories about their suffering within it.
On August 27, the group of employees indicated that they had collected 500 stories that occurred inside the corridors of the “Apple” company, which narrate the discrimination, harassment and revenge they were subjected to within the company, according to the Engadget website.
The employees called themselves “Apple Two”, in reference to the “MeToo” movement, which was launched from the United States of America years ago, and calls for revealing stories of harassment, whether by women or men.
Sher Scarlett, a security engineer at Apple who leads the movement, said she would be sharing 5 stories at a time across the Medium movement page, because “the emotional burden of reading them is heavy.”
In the first 5 stories published by the “Apple Two” group, 2 of them revolve around harassment, one of which deals with the story of a male boss using his position on an employee, who was later fired from the company by the recruitment team.
A black retail worker in the UK recounts his attempts to persuade his bosses to take action on racism and petty workplace assaults, to no avail, while another employee talks about how she was targeted by someone on her team, and how management did nothing about it.
One of the published stories reveals an employee who was assaulted in an Apple Store by a customer and did not receive support from management.
The founder of the “Apple Two” movement, Scarlett Sher, told the “Protocol” website that she feels “as if the company needs to be held accountable because they do not hold themselves accountable, people want to feel that their voice is heard, and they do not feel that Apple hears them.”
She added that “some employees who worked with the American tech giant for decades felt that the leadership was listening to them, but that is not the case anymore.”
When news about the Apple Two movement first broke, Apple responded in an official statement that it “takes all concerns seriously, thoroughly investigates each time concerns are raised, and out of respect for the privacy of any individuals involved, it refuses to discuss matters related to the Apple Two movement.” employee.”
