Algeria won, on Friday, the first gold in the Paralympic Games, currently being held in the Japanese capital, Tokyo.

The Algerian newspaper “An-Nahar” said that the gold medal came from the player Sherine Abdellawi, who won the gold in judo, to write history in the most wonderful way possible.
The newspaper pointed out that the Algerian wrestling, imposed its logic in the weight of less than 57 kg, and beat its Canadian counterpart Ghani with the full mark Ebon.

The opening ceremonies of the Paralympic Games, hosted by Japan, for the second time in its history, kicked off last Tuesday, amid precautionary measures, the most prominent of which were preventing fans from attending due to the Corona pandemic.

This was reported by the Japanese news agency (NHK), noting that Tokyo has become the first city in the world to host this world championship twice.

The first time Tokyo hosted the Paralympic Games was in 1964.

And the tournament, which was postponed a year ago, was launched due to the new Corona virus, which has turned into a global epidemic, according to the Japanese “Kyodo” news agency, which indicates that there are concerns about the safety of participants in the international competition, which is the largest in the world for people with special needs.

The agency stated that the international championship competitions are held without a public presence, as happened in the last Tokyo Olympics, due to the Corona pandemic.
