Twitter is testing new tools to report misleading tweets

The micro-blogging platform Twitter has announced that it is testing new tools that help flag misleading tweets.

Twitter indicated that it will allow the reporting of misleading tweets, which contain incorrect information about the Corona virus or other medical information or information related to wars, problems and military conflicts between countries, or elections for countries.

Twitter will test its new tools in the United States, South Korea and Australia, as a first stage, before applying it to all countries of the world at a later time.

These tools follow Twitter’s approach, which it has been following for some time, of tracking facts or breaching misinformation, as the company has introduced stickers to the accounts of certain official institutions, and has exposed a number of accounts that promoted misleading health information related to the Corona virus, and blocked a number of linked accounts. By promoting false news about the US elections, which amounted to blocking the account of former US President, Donald Trump, himself.
