Microsoft has come up with its own way to deal with hackers, where a program called “Argus” will be able to physically support users who want to secretly report illegal content.
As specified in a document published by researchers from Microsoft and the University of Mellau, this solution is based on the “Ethereum blockchain” system from the company “Rubrick”. With its help, it is possible to safely collect and store data from hackers.
The system works as follows: illegal content will be uniquely marked, which will allow it to be traced back to its source, according to torrentfreak.
The authors of the project made it clear that the anti-piracy campaign should be as transparent as possible. Thus, it would be impossible to get the reward twice, claiming the same pirated program under different titles.
The site indicated that the two companies refused to disclose the size of Microsoft’s investment in Ruprick, adding that the total funding is estimated at several tens of millions of dollars, while the market value of the startup is estimated at about 4 billion dollars, according to an informed source.
The two companies will sell the applications through Microsoft’s Azure cloud computing service with the aim of preventing and detecting digital hacking attacks and recovering data in the event of a breach.
The CEO and co-founder of Rubrik, People Sina, stressed that the products that the two companies will offer will also ensure that there are backup copies of customer data and cloud computing applications that cannot be accessed by hackers.
