WhatsApp has finally made it possible to transfer message history and content between Android and iOS.
The feature was officially announced today during Samsung’s “Unpacked” event. The Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 will be the first to allow this, according to gsmarena.
The feature will be rolled out gradually to Samsung devices running Android 10 or higher, then reaching all other Android and iPhone devices “in the coming weeks.” There is no clear timeframe for implementing this new option, but it appears that Samsung has pulled the strings to maintain exclusivity in hopes of finally persuading iPhone users to switch to Samsung.
WhatsApp did not say when Android users will be able to transfer data to iPhones.
Transferring chats will be possible when both iOS and Android devices are physically connected via the USB-C to Lightning cable that is conveniently included with all modern iPhones.
