Lebanese pop star Nancy Ajram is uniting with British crooner Ed Sheeran and rock legend Mick Jagger for a good cause.
The artists are set to join more than 100 international and Bollywood stars to help raise funds for COVID-19 relief efforts on India’s Independence Day.
American guitarist Nile Rodgers and Indian actor Arjun Kapoor will also participate in the fundraiser, “We For India: Saving Lives, Protecting Livelihoods,” which aims to aid post-COVID-19 missions and provide vital preventive measures against future waves, organizers said.
The event will be streamed live on Facebook on Aug. 15 at 6PM GST and aims to raise $3.5 million for humanitarian aid and medical equipment amidst the ongoing pandemic. Viewers will have the ability to donate in real time.
Ajram, Sheeran and Jagger will perform, as will Scottish singer Annie Lennox and Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman.
All proceeds from the event, which is being hosted by Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao, will be donated to GiveIndia, a non-profit organization providing oxygen supply for COVID-19 patients in India and setting up vaccination centres to combat the spread of the pandemic, among other things.
