A Russian doctor warns of the effect of using smartphones on immunity

There is no doubt that the technological era we live in now requires us to use smart phones for a long time, today it is difficult to give up the Internet or the smart phone.

For this, Russian ophthalmologist Igor Azronyan warns, in his speech to “Sputnik”, against prolonged use of a smartphone or computer, because of its bad effects on the immune system.

Azronian talked about why smartphones harm the body’s immunity and how the negative health consequences of permanent use of these smart devices can be avoided.
Dr. Azronian explained that “viruses can enter the body through the mucous membrane of the eye, and at the same time, prolonged use of a computer or smartphone often leads to the occurrence of dry eye syndrome in a person.”

The doctor said: “Dry eye syndrome means the condition in which the tear glands do not produce the required amount of moisture, which negatively affects the organs of vision. When the cornea of the eye dries up, moisture production is activated by the lacrimal gland, and in this process it moisturizes the eye.”

The doctor continued: “The development of such a condition can undermine the general immunity of the person,” noting that “the risk of dry eye syndrome is a decrease in local immunity, as all microbes that fly in the air naturally enter and enter the eye, and in conditions of reduced immunity in the syndrome.” Dry eyes, a variety of infections develop, including viral infections.

And the doctor advised the use of eye drops to avoid the unpleasant consequences of using these smart devices.

He said, “It is obviously wrong to tell anyone to look at the computer less, and no one can do that anyway. Therefore, the main way out of the situation is eye drops. They cannot completely replace the lacrimal glands, But it is still a supportive measure.”
