Five Arab countries were ranked in the ranking of the twenty safest countries in the world for the year 2021, which is issued annually by “Global Finance” magazine, and this year includes data on the risks of the epidemic.
The magazine said in its report that the global ranking it issues also included data from updated sources and a new time frame, as well as integrating each country’s experience with the epidemic and the risks it faced, to determine the safest countries.
Like previous rankings, this year’s ranking took into account three primary factors: war and peace, personal security, and natural disaster risks, including unique risk factors from the pandemic.
Because the ranking is driven by data, Global Finance did not include countries lacking data in any of the categories, including countries such as Bhutan, Belarus, Sudan, Kosovo, and Somalia. This year’s ranking included 134 countries.
The top-ranked countries vary between Europe and Asia, and among the top twenty, nine came from Europe and four from Northern Europe. The remaining 11 countries out of the 20 are mainly countries in the Middle East, Southeast or East Asia.
Many other European countries missed the top 20 that had performed well in the previous rankings, with countries such as Portugal, Spain, Slovenia and Belgium suffering significantly in the rankings because their governments handled the pandemic crisis poorly.
Portugal (ranked: 29), Spain (41), Slovenia (47) and Belgium (66) were previously ranked in the top 20 safest countries, but the epidemic crisis severely affected their ranking this year, and other countries such as the United Kingdom (38) and the United States (71) also suffered. ) and Italy (84) due to the high epidemic deaths.
