Russian police robots are operating in different regions of the United Arab Emirates

The Russian police robot “Promobot”, created by the company of the same name from the Russian company Perm, has successfully passed a one-year probationary period in Abu Dhabi Police.

A Promobot representative told Sputnik that they are now planning to hire the robot in the northern emirates, including Dubai.

The only service robot in the Arabic-speaking world, the Russian “Promobot”, began working in the Abu Dhabi Police office in June 2020. “After a year of its work, the police department decided to officially include the robot in the “staff” and spread this experience in the Emirates and other cities “.

At the same time, a project is being developed to use such robots in police stations in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman.

According to the developer, the robot’s duties include patrolling, video monitoring of police officers, visitors, temperature measurement and law enforcement.

Among other things, the robot can communicate in both English and Arabic. In order to effectively carry out its tasks, the creators of the project, together with the UAE police, developed a special language base, containing several thousand questions and answers, as well as a facial recognition system.

Therefore, the robot “knows by sight” all police officers, visitors and wanted criminals. Equipped with obstacle sensors and a touchless thermometer, it can move freely and patrol, avoid obstacles, and monitor the temperature of police officers and visitors.

According to Oleg Kivokurtsev, director of development at the company, the robot does not make the so-called “human worker mistakes” while working in the police: it does not get tired, is not rude to visitors, is not late for work and does not make mistakes at work.

Russian robots are very popular in the Gulf countries. Robots from Perm can be found in the Dubai Mall, the National Bank of Oman and a network of clinics in Kuwait and schools in Saudi Arabia.
