The Russian Institute of Aircraft Engine Industry has created a distinguished aircraft engine similar to the engine of the presidential car “Urus”.
A media source at the institute told Sputnik that the ABD-500 engine was installed in the Yak-18T aircraft, which will be displayed at the MAKS 2021 International Exhibition of Aviation and Space Technologies.
The source indicated that the Yak-18T was selected to test the ABD-500 engine, which is a piston engine equipped with new devices that ensure its effective and safe operation to produce thrust for the aircraft. The Yak-18T will begin mid-air testing of the new engine in the second half of 2021.
Mikhail Gordin, director general of the institute, said he expected wide use of the new engine, which could give a strong impetus to the engine industry and the manufacture of new aircraft.
The exhibition “Max 2021” will be held in Zhukovsky, in the countryside of the capital, Moscow, on July 20 and will continue until July 25.
