Disciplinary measures and wholesale accusations against England for the misconduct of its fans at “Euro 2020”

European soccer body UEFA said on Tuesday it had initiated disciplinary action, accusing the English Football Association of causing unrest during Sunday’s Euro 2020 final against Italy at Wembley.

UEFA has appointed an ethics and discipline inspector to conduct a separate investigation into “events involving fans in and around the stadium,” Reuters reported.
Clashes took place between fans and officials in and around the stadium on match day, and British police, who said 19 of their officers had been injured, had arrested about 86 people so far, with about 53 of those arrested at Wembley alone.

The charges against the Football Association include; His supporters invade the field of play, throw things by his supporters, and his supporters annoy the opponent while playing the national anthem and setting off fireworks.

Cheers were heard all over the stadium when the Italian anthem was played before kick-off, and an English fan stormed the field during the match, with the referee stopping play while the hosts chased after him.

UEFA said:

The case will be dealt with by UEFA’s Oversight, Ethics and Disciplinary Body in due course.

Several fans broke through the security cordon and attacked the area around the stadium before kick-off. On Monday, the FA said it would conduct a full review of the security breach.

English football officials condemned the behavior of the fans who stormed the stadium and apologized to those with tickets for the “unprecedented level of general chaos”.

British Formula 1 driver Lando Norris had his watch worth 40,000 pounds (55,364) stolen.

Last week, the FA was fined 30,000 euros ($35,460) after shining a laser pointer at Denmark goalkeeper Kasper Schmeik during what proved to be a defining moment in the Euro 2020 semi-finals.

The FA was also accused of booing fans during the Danish anthem and setting off fireworks during the semi-finals.
