Doctor Who confirms John Bishop’s first appearance with Jodie Whittaker

Doctor Who has officially ramped up promotion for series 13 with John Bishop’s first live appearance as a cast member.

The BBC show’s newest companion will be taking part in his first-ever panel with co-stars Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill, as well as showrunner Chris Chibnall, for Comic-Con@Home on Sunday, July 25.

Fans will be able to watch live as the Doctor Who team are joined by moderator Melanie McFarland and a “very special surprise guest”. Start making your guesses now on who their guest will be!

Bishop joins Doctor Who for its new series as Dan, but there is little else known about how he comes to travel with The Doctor.

The comedian recently admitted he has already had a telling-off by the BBC for nearly revealing too much spoiler-y information by confirming Dan comes from Liverpool.

“Then the BBC phoned me up and said: ‘You’ve broke the cardinal sin. You’ve told them something about Doctor Who…’ and I went, ‘I haven’t told them anything! Anybody who looks at me knows he’s from Liverpool, let’s be honest,'” he joked on The Graham Norton Show.

The show’s Comic-Con@Home virtual panel should be interesting as it could be a forum for Jodie Whittaker to address rumours that she will be leaving the show after series 13.

It’s a Sin star Olly Alexander had been heavily linked to replacing her as the next Doctor, but his representatives have since insisted he is “focusing on his music, for the time being”.
