A few days ago, the Russian Ministry of Health issued temporary recommendations entitled: “The behavior of the adult population during the outbreak of the Corona virus epidemic and their response to “Covid-19”.
In particular, the recommendations stated that all Russian vaccines against the Corona virus could be used in order to vaccinate those who had recovered from “Covid-19” and to repeat the vaccination of those who had received the vaccine more than 6 months ago.
The group of Russian vaccines recommended by the Ministry of Health to be used for this purpose includes the “Sputnik-V” and “Sputnik-Lite” vaccines, which were developed by the Russian “Gamalia” Center, the “Coviwak” vaccine developed by the Russian Chumakov Center, and the “Abivac Corona” vaccine Russia’s Victor Center.
The Ministry of Health stressed the need to adhere to the sequence and dates of using the mentioned vaccines, whether it was at the first vaccination for those who had not previously received a vaccine and those who had recovered from “Covid-19” or when repeat vaccination.
The Ministry of Health said that “Sputnik-V” requires two doses to be injected, with the condition that a dose is separated from another by a period of time of not less than 21 days.
As for the “Abivac Corona” vaccine, it is necessary to inject two doses, with an interval of 14-21 days between them. The “Quivak” vaccine also requires injecting two doses at an interval of 14 days, knowing that the Russian “Chumakov” Center wants to increase that period to 21-28 days to raise the effectiveness of the vaccine.
As for the “Sputnik-Lite” vaccine, it only requires one dose injection.
The recommendations stated that the “Sputnik” vaccine does not lose its effectiveness within 12 months of receiving it. But in the conditions of a large-scale spread of the epidemic, that period is reduced to 6 months. Therefore, the Ministry of Health recommended that everyone who received the vaccination more than 6 months ago should repeat the vaccination.
