Apple employees refuse to return to offices… and the company adheres to the “hybrid work” system

An internal survey designed by employees of the American technology company “Apple” showed that respondents support the option of working from home, while expressing concern that some of their colleagues will have to submit their resignations, if the company forces them to return to the offices.

In the survey sent in early June, of 1,749 employees, nearly 90 percent said they “strongly agree” with the statement “flexible work options for locations are a very important issue to me.” The site is an option to work from home indefinitely, according to The Verge.
The results of the opinion poll come in the wake of the announcement by Apple president, Tim Cook, that the company will introduce a new hybrid business model, whose idea is that employees return to the office three days a week, starting in early September.

58.5 percent of the internal survey respondents said they strongly agreed with the statement, “I am concerned that some of my colleagues will have to leave Apple due to the lack of flexible work options for the location,” while 36.7 percent expressed concern that they will have to resign due to a lack of flexibility. .

The employees sent the results of the survey to both the president of “Apple”, Tim Cook, and the senior vice president of retail and individuals, Deidre O’Brien, on June 14, and they also attached a video clip with personal testimonies from 24 workers at the company explaining why remote work options are important. .

But two weeks later, Apple responded to them with a video in support of its new hybrid business model, and justified this by saying, “We believe that personal collaboration is essential to our culture and our future,” to the anger of some employees, who felt that executives did not listen. to their point of view.

It is noteworthy that the opinion poll is not scientific, and it was sent via the “Slack” channel to employees to discuss remote work, and it is likely that it represents only a small part of the workforce in “Apple”, which numbers 147,000 people.
