Catalona Enriquez, 27, recently won the title of Miss Nevada, becoming the first transgender woman to compete for the Miss USA title.
Enriquez overcame 21 of her competitors to qualify for the Miss USA contest, which will be held on November 29. And if she wins the title, she will be the second transgender woman to participate in the Miss Universe contest, after the Spaniard, Angela Pons, preceded her in 2018.

Catalona said her path in life was not easy and that she had gone through a lot of hardships after becoming transgender. “I suffered all kinds of physical and sexual abuse, and I struggled to maintain my mental health,” she said.
She added, “I did not get much support, but I was able to continue and develop and I am still alive, and I aspire to set an example for many people.”
