The US Treasury Department said that the United States has extended the sanctions imposed on Belarus, and imposed new sanctions targeting 16 individuals and five ministries and institutions.
The US sanctions include the State Security Committee of Belarus, the General Administration for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption of the Belarusian Ministry of the Interior, the Internal Forces of the Ministry of the Interior, the Brest District Internal Affairs Directorate, the Minsk Center for the isolation of criminals and lawbreakers.
The new US sanctions affected Natalia Esmont, press secretary of the President of Belarus, Speaker of the Senate of the Belarusian Parliament Natalia Kochanova, commander of the “Alpha” special forces in intelligence Sergey Zubkov, Minsk police chief Mikhail Gharib and Deputy Minister of Justice of Belarus Sergey Kalinovsky. The list of new US sanctions included the Prosecutor of Belarus, Andrei Shved.
