Bottas and Hamilton top practice for French Grand Prix

Finnish Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas and his British teammate Lewis Hamilton finished first and second respectively in the first free practice round of the French Grand Prix, for Formula One.

Bottas beat everyone on Friday, in the seventh round of the world championship, when he recorded a best time of one minute 33.448 seconds, while Hamilton trailed him by 0.335 seconds.

Dutch Red Bull’s Max Verstappen finished third in one minute 33.880 seconds, followed by his Mexican team mate Sergio Perez, winner of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

After the first six rounds of the season, Verstappen is at the top of the drivers’ list, four points ahead of champion Hamilton.

The tour witnessed some accidents, during which more than one car suffered some damage, including the car of German Sebastian Vettel, the Aston Martin driver.
