Russia and China offer plan to build a lunar station

At the International Conference on Space Exploration “GLEX”, in Saint Petersburg, on Wednesday, Russia and China presented a roadmap for the construction of an international scientific station on the Moon.

The stages of construction of the station were presented by the Deputy Director General of the “Roskosmos” Agency for International Cooperation, Sergey Savelyev, and the Vice President of the China National Space Administration, Wu Yanhua.
According to the presentation, the first phase will last from 2026 to 2030. During this time, it is scheduled to start joint operations, deliver lunar soil samples and test the station’s command center technologies. The second phase will run from 2031 to 2035.

In the meantime, it is planned to deploy systems in orbit and on the lunar surface, which will be responsible for power, communications and equipment transportation. The third stage will be the stage of full operation of the station.

The International Scientific Lunar Station was planned by Russia and China, and is a complex of experimental research facilities, which were built on the surface of the Moon and in its orbit, and are intended for interdisciplinary research work.
