On Saturday, the US space agency, NASA, expressed its readiness to continue discussing plans to explore the planet Venus with Russia.
Washington – Sputnik. A NASA spokeswoman told Sputnik: “We had an excellent exchange of views on determining the common goals of the Venera-D space station, the automated space station that will be sent to Venus.”
She added, “We welcome future opportunities for our experts to continue discussing the plans,” noting that “NASA has worked over the past years to identify areas of common interest in planetary exploration, especially Venus.”
Earlier, the Director of the US Space Agency “NASA”, Bill Nelson, described Russia as a vital partner of the United States in space, indicating that he expected the continuation of this “exceptional relationship” between the two countries.
“I think the relationship between Russia and the United States in space has been exceptional since the Soviet Union… Russia is a vital partner to the [international] space station and I expect Russia to continue in that role,” Nelson told a news conference.
It is noteworthy that the Soviet Union was the first country in the 1960s to send a probe to the planet Venus. The United States, the European Union and Japan have all sent their probes to this planet.
