Officially… Barcelona announces the continuation of Koeman for next season

Barcelona announced, Thursday evening, that Dutch coach Ronald Koeman will continue to lead the team next season (2021-2022).

“After a period of reflection, I want to announce that we will continue our current contract with Ronald Koeman,” Barcelona president Joan Laporta said.

He added: “We are very relieved that conversations with Koeman revealed that we have unity of standards on what to do next season, in addition to our assessment of what happened last season.”

Koeman took over Barcelona coach, last summer, by a decision from Jose Bartomeu, the former president of the Catalan club, so there were some doubts about continuing with the new administration headed by Laporta.

Koeman led Barcelona in 54 matches, winning 35, drawing 8 and losing 11.

Barcelona finished third in the Spanish League last season, and was eliminated from the European Champions League from the round of 16 against Paris Saint-Germain.

But Koeman managed to win the King’s Cup.
