A psychiatrist shares an “incredible” mental trick that makes us see colors in a black and white photo

A video clip posted by a psychiatrist that made people see color in a black and white image caused an uproar among TikTok users.

Dr. Julie Smith has created an amazing TikTok video that shows how our brains can trick us into seeing things that aren’t there.

In the clip, which she uploaded to her @drjuliesmith account , the doctor sits in a park with a cross on her head and indulges in an experiment that will “trick” people’s brains.

She tells People: “Now this video is in black and white, but when I play it it will be in full color.

All you have to do is stay focused on the crossover on my head and by focusing on it, your brain will do something incredible, exposing certain receptors in your eyes to colors, which causes the brain to see the inverted colors and the white image appears. Even when it changes, keep focusing on the cross sign. are you ready?”.

Then the color changes from pink and blue to black and white, but people saw green on the bushes and other colors that weren’t there.

One wrote: “I think my brain is malfunctioning.” Another commented: “I see purple flowers, a blue stool, green colors behind you, and your shirt looks green.”

A fourth user said: “It scared me so bad! As long as I kept focusing on the x, I saw a color that was almost completely black and white.”

Dr. Jolie wrote: “Have you seen the color? How long? And what’s more special?. Try it with increased brightness for maximum effect!”

Explaining how this illusion works, the psychologist explains: “Excessive exposure of receptors in the eyes to certain colors causes the brain to see colors inverted when the image appears in black and white.”

The video has been viewed more than 414,000 times so far, with more than 1,000 comments from people who have tried the optical illusion themselves, with varying degrees of success.
