The “Nas Online” program received the Palestinian singer Nai Al-Barghouti, to talk about the recent events in Palestine, and the digital censorship of her last song, “Rejein”, in which she talked about what is happening in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood and Gaza.
The young artist residing in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, to complete her studies, talked about her difficult feeling when her country witnesses these events while she is far from her, describing it as a feeling of “helplessness” as she watches developments without the ability to do anything to help the Palestinian people.
Regarding the digital censorship imposed by YouTube on her new song “Rajeen”, which she launched in conjunction with the escalating events in Palestine, Nay said that the restriction occurred without prior warning, and the song was immediately censored even before the song was made available for viewing on the YouTube platform, under the pretext The song does not follow the laws of the site.
On the neutrality shown by some artists and influential people towards what is happening in Palestine, Nay said: “Anyone who was neutral about the Palestinian issue means that he chose the occupation, and the artists or artists who showed neutrality is the result of fear and there is no conscience in short.”
Al-Barghouti added that expressing her voice as a Palestinian artist residing abroad, and participating in shows under the name Palestine, is important to her because that reflects an aspect of Palestine that is not talked about enough.
