Twitter announces the steps for verifying its users’ accounts in accordance with a new policy

Twitter announced new standards for verifying the accounts of its users as part of activating the site’s new authentication program and reviewing requests from users in this regard.

This comes after the company, over the past months, launched a new documentation policy based on public suggestions in several languages. Arabic, English, Hindi, Spanish, Portuguese and Japanese, she announced on Twitter on her official blog.

Twitter began implementing this policy by automatically removing the verification badge from accounts that do not meet the updated criteria for authentication, such as inactive or incomplete accounts.
The importance of documenting accounts and putting the blue badge on them is that it is one of the ways to distinguish original accounts that are of great interest to the public, as it gives people on “Twitter” more context about the people they have conversations with so that they can determine whether they are trustworthy. Which contributes to increasing the health of conversations, according to the site.

The company has identified the categories eligible for documentation, namely:

Government accounts

Companies, brands and organizations

News organizations and journalists

entertainment

Sports and games

Activists, organizers, and other influential individuals
How to authenticate the account

In addition to the eligibility criteria for the categories described previously and mentioned in the “Twitter” authentication policy, the account applying for authentication must be complete, which means that it has a user name, a photo, a confirmed email address, and a phone number. The account must also be active within the past six months and have a record of adhering to the Twitter Rules.

In the coming weeks, it is expected that the option to request authentication will appear in the “Account Settings” tab, and this will be done gradually for all accounts on Twitter.

Once the application is submitted, it will be answered via email within 1 to 4 weeks, either by verifying the account or by informing the applicant that the account did not meet the authentication criteria. And if the request is approved, the blue badge will automatically appear on the account. In the event that the request is rejected, people can re-submit the documentation request again after 30 days.

Twitter plans to introduce more groups later this year, such as scholars, academics and religious leaders. You can also follow the Verified @ account to keep up with the latest developments about authentication.
