The departure of the veteran plastic artist Tayer Salahouf

The Soviet People’s Artist and Vice President of the Russian Academy of Fine Arts, Tayer Salahov, who died in Germany at the age of 92, passed away.

This was reported by his daughter, Aidan Salahova, who said her father died in a German hospital with pneumonia.

It should be mentioned that Tayer Salahov is a Soviet, Azerbaijani and Russian plastic artist and playwright.

Salahov was born in 1928 in Baku, Azerbaijan. His father was an activist in the Communist Party, executed in 1938 by Soviet intelligence agents.

Tayer Salahov graduated in 1950 from the Azerbaijani Art College, then in 1957 he finished the State “Surikov” Institute of Art in Moscow.

He became famous after he created portraits by composers Dmitry Sshostakovich, Rostropovich, Karagarayev and Azerbaijani writer Rasul Raza. He has a series of paintings on workers of the Azerbaijani oil sector, such as “Over the Caspian Sea”, “Morning in the Caspian”, “Morning Train” and others.
