A Spaniard was arrested for calling the emergency services about 9,000 times since 2019 for an unexpected reason!

A Spanish man, who had virtually no problem but had called police and emergency services nearly 9,000 times since 2019, found himself in trouble after tracking his annoying calls.

On Wednesday, local media reported that the 49-year-old man from Oviedo in northwestern Spain was arrested last week after complaints about the 091 service, which receives all phone calls to the country’s national police.
The investigation revealed that he had been requesting emergency lines for more than two years “for the sole purpose of reprimanding and insulting workers,” the police said. The investigators indicated that the man was not in an emergency situation at all.

Reportedly, 3,789 calls were made to the 091 line and 4,957 other emergency service calls 112 were made from his phone card during this period.

According to Spanish reports, the operators have repeatedly asked the caller to stop operating emergency lines intended for people needing urgent help.

But the man ignored those demands, and now faces charges of serious insubordination. It can carry a prison sentence of up to three months to a year.
