Russian avant-garde plastic artist Vasily Kandinsky (1866-1944) “Calming Tensions” is put up for sale at Sotheby’s for $ 35 million.
As part of the contemporary avant-garde art bid, which will be held on 29 June in London.
It is noteworthy that the painting “Calming Tensions” was created by Vasily Kandinsky in 1937, and then bought by his friend and American patron of art, Solomon Guggenheim, who established the Special Museum of Contemporary Art in New York. The museum housed about 150 Kandinsky artworks.
The painting was put up in 1964 at a contemporary art auction where it was bought by an unknown art hobbyist. Since that time it has not appeared anywhere.
It is worth noting that Helena Neumann, head of the Impressionism School Department at Sotheby’s, described the painting “Calming Tensions” as one of the most important masterpieces of abstract art.
Before being auctioned, “Sotheby’s” will tour the world, where it will be exhibited in Dubai, Hong Kong, Taiwan and London.
