Jodie Turner-Smith has revealed what “unique challenges” her pregnancy posed during the filming of Amazon Prime Video’s latest action film Without Remorse, starring Michael B Jordan.
Loosely based on the Tom Clancy novel of the same name, the movie sees elite Navy SEAL John Kelly (Jordan) seek justice after his pregnant wife is killed by a squad of Russian soldiers, in retaliation for a top-secret operation he was involved in.
For this revenge mission, he teams up with fellow SEAL Karen Greer (Turner-Smith) and shadowy CIA agent Robert Ritter (Jamie Bell). However, things turn out to not be as straightforward as they originally appeared.
Speaking to Variety about the training required for her role, Turner-Smith revealed it “wasn’t straightforward because I was pregnant, so that definitely added a layer of complexity to it.”
“But I went after it. I gave it all of myself.”
The movie was in fact filmed last year when the 34-year-old actress was pregnant with her first child and in her second trimester. In April 2020, she welcomed a baby daughter alongside husband Joshua Jackson.
But while she performed amazingly in the film, there was one difficulty with performing the underwater stunts that viewers might now have noticed.
“I don’t know if you know this, but when you are pregnant, it’s very hard to hold your breath,” said Turner-Smith. “So, I had unique challenges that my co-stars didn’t have.”
As for the upcoming projects, the actress will shortly appear in the upcoming Channel 5 series Anne Boleyn, playing the titular queen.
She was also meant to star in The Witcher prequel series Blood Origins for Netflix but was forced to leave the role due to scheduling issues.
