“A special greeting from space” … a large meteorite falls in southern France

French media reported yesterday evening, Saturday, that a large meteorite had fallen in the south of the country in the French Riviera, near Nice.

Activists circulated photos and videos of the meteorite fall, and according to one of the surveillance cameras, the meteor fell at 22:26 local time, and it appears that it burned in the atmosphere without reaching the ground.

These bright meteorites that have not made it to Earth’s surface are called fireballs. This is a special greeting to us from space after the arrival of French astronaut Thomas Pesquet on the International Station, one of the users said.

According to eyewitnesses, the fireball changed its color from red to green and headed from north to south. According to many people, the body split in two, leaving a large trail before disappearing.
