Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp launched a ferocious attack on UEFA, against the backdrop of the new format for the European Champions League.
The new format includes an increase in the number of matches for each team, something the German coach considers an overlook of physical and psychological stress and just an ambition to make money, according to the sports site “goal”.
Klopp told the press conference for the Newcastle match, he told the press: “The most positive thing about the European Super League is that it has not been done, but it is not over yet, and here I do not mean the European Super League.”
He continued: “Everyone knows my point of view that there are more matches. You cannot increase the matches and competitions. Yes, the European Super League is over, but the new Champions League is not great either.”
He added: “I saw the new format of the tournament and had one hour to see the whole idea with the European Union, I really don’t know how we will play 10 matches instead of just 6 before New Year.”
Regarding the sports leaders ’dealings with clubs, Klopp said:” The European Union did not ask us, even those who created the European Super League did not ask us about anything. They only increase the number of matches, and this is impossible given the current structure of other competitions. ”
Klopp attributed these ideas only for the sake of seeking money, saying: “I have said them since the start of the European Nations League, or when FIFA wanted to hold the Club World Cup, they don’t ask us, they just form those tournaments, why? For the money!”
He added: “The quality of football will not increase by buying but with training, and not even the best players in the world can be better without training. Now we are cutting training time constantly, I said this over and over and no one listens.”
It is worth noting that Liverpool suffered many injuries this season due to the pressure of matches, and in the past world from match pressure, it was forced to rely on youth in the Carabao Cup.
