The OA star Emory Cohen has been cast in the upcoming Netflix thriller Rebel Ridge.
Joining forces with the already announced John Boyega (Star Wars), Don Johnson (Watchmen), James Cromwell (LA Confidential), James Badge Dale (24) and Zsane Jhe (Black Lightning), Cohen is the second newcomer to be revealed alongside AnnaSophie Robb (Little Fires Everywhere).
This “high-velocity” movie is being written and directed by Green Room’s Jeremy Saulnier, and, per Deadline, looks at systemic injustice in America through the prism of action, Black humour and suspense.
Boyega signed a major deal with Netflix back in March 2020 and has multiple projects in development right now with the streaming service, including science-fiction mystery They Cloned Tyrone.
The 29-year-old also joined Robert De Niro’s crime flick The Formula recently.
Last October, he shared the one way he’d return to the Star Wars franchise after seemingly bowing out with The Rise of Skywalker.
“I’m a Mandalorian fan, so Lucasfilm are doing very, very well with the TV shows,” he told Yahoo Entertainment. “If they could do it [a Finn solo project] on TV and do all that kind of stuff, man I’d love to watch it.”
Boyega added that he would consider reprising the character for it too: “Well yeah! Animated would actually be dope! We could do it from home.” Watch this space then…
