British Transport Police said today, Wednesday, that it evacuated London Bridge station in the center of the British capital, after calling security to investigate reports of a suspicious element on board a train.
A spokeswoman for British Transport Police said: “The officers were summoned to London Bridge Station at 12:33 pm following reports of a suspicious element on board a train.”

She added:
The station has been closed as a precaution, while specialized officers are trying to assess the suspected item.
Southern and Southeastern train operators said on Twitter that trains do not stop at the station, one of London’s busiest transport hubs, after authorities evacuated the station of passengers.

The company, “Network Rail”, which runs the station, said on its “Twitter” account that it expects a breakdown until 14:00 GMT.
But eyewitnesses told “Reuters” later that the station began to open its doors to passengers more than an hour before this time.
