Romania extends its maximum alert to combat Corona

Today, Saturday, the authorities in Romania announced the extension of the state of maximum alert until May 13, to combat the spread of the Corona virus.

“The high alert system has been extended for a period of 30 days throughout the country,” read a statement issued by the press office of the Council of Ministers.

And earlier last month, thousands of people demonstrated in the Romanian capital, Bucharest, to protest against the precautionary measures issued to stop the spread of the Corona virus.

There were protests in Bucharest and at least 17 other cities, at the invitation of the Alliance for the Unity of the Romans, an extremist nationalist party represented in Parliament since the December 2020 elections.
