Russia honors the wives of Russian submarine sailors

According to the Russian Fleet Press Service, the Northern Fleet Submarine Forces Command established the “The Venerable Submarine Sailor’s Wife” medal.

Russia celebrated Sailors’ Day on March 19, by presenting the first decorations to the wives of the crew of fourth-generation strategic missile submarines.

In addition, the wives of the sailors of the Novomoskovsk nuclear submarine were awarded, and in total, medals were awarded to about 150 wives.

The Submarine Forces Command of the Northern Fleet created the medal “The Venerable Wife of the Submarine Sailor” on the eve of the 115th anniversary of the Russian Submarine Fleet. This is a commemorative medal presented to the wives of sailors whose marriage has lasted for at least ten years.

The fleet noted, “Medal candidates are handed over to the leadership by the submarine crew commander or formation. The medal can also be awarded to the widow of a soldier who served on the submarine crew.”

Medals are recommended to be presented on International Women’s Day, Family Day, Valentine’s Day and Loyalty Day, and Navy Day.
