China announces sanctions on individuals and entities in America and Canada

China announced, Saturday, the imposition of sanctions on individuals and entities in the United States and Canada, in response to the sanctions imposed on citizens and groups from China, due to Beijing’s treatment of the Uyghur Muslim minority in the Xinjiang region.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement that China will impose sanctions on the chair of the US Committee for International Religious Freedom, Gail Mansheen, and Vice President Tony Perkins.

China has also imposed sanctions on Canadian Member of Parliament Michael Chung and the International Human Rights Subcommittee of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development of Canada’s House of Commons, according to the statement.
