On Monday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held talks with his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, on a range of international issues and the conduct of relations with the United States.
The Russian Foreign Ministry stated, in a statement, that the two ministers briefed each other during the meeting, which took place in the Chinese city of Guilin, on the progress of Russia and China’s relations with the United States, and they also discussed a range of pressing issues of the global agenda.
The statement indicated that the two sides discussed the issue of cooperation within the framework of the United Nations and other international organizations, the situations in Afghanistan and Myanmar, and the issue of the agreement on the Iranian nuclear program.
The Russian Foreign Ministry indicated that “the meeting took place in an atmosphere of trust and friendship, and confirmed the unity of positions regarding the topics discussed,” adding that the talks will continue tomorrow, Tuesday.
On Monday, Lavrov began a working visit to China, where he is scheduled to discuss a wide range of issues, including coordination of foreign policy between the two countries.
