Fifteen years ago, the founder of the “Twitter” platform Jack Dorsey wrote a brief message saying “I only adjust my settings,” which became the first tweet ever, and represented the launch of the global social network.
During an auction, the short tweet issued by the company’s CEO on March 21, 2006 is now sold, with the auction reaching $ 2.5 million, according to Agence France-Presse.
The network’s journey has been long and bizarre, and has seen dramatic events such as when, in January, former US President Donald Trump’s account was deleted after he was blamed for inciting the violent insurgency on the Capitol building.
Bidding on Dorsey’s tweet ends later in the evening, and the CEO has said he will donate the money to charity.
Dorsey’s tweet will be sold as a “NFT” icon.
These tokens use the same ‘blockchain’ backing technology to transform anything like artwork into virtual items that cannot be replicated.
