The White House confirmed that the US President, Joe Biden, does not regret his statements about his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in which he described him as a “murderer.”
“No, the president gave a direct answer to a direct question,” said White House spokeswoman Jane Psaki during a press conference held today, Thursday, in response to a question about whether Biden regrets his remarks.
Psaki indicated that Putin and Biden have known each other for a long time, explaining that they “have been present in the international arena for many years.”
The White House spokeswoman also stressed that the United States is convinced that it can cooperate with Russia in a number of areas, despite the differences between the two parties.
And Biden had previously said during an interview with “ABC” that Putin “would pay the price of Russian interference” in the US elections, and he also stated in response to a question about whether he considered his counterpart a murderer with “yes”.
In response to these remarks, which aroused widespread repercussions, Putin proposed to Biden to hold talks live to continue discussions between the two parties.
