Delete “Alibaba” browser from Chinese applications

Alibaba’s internet browser has been removed from many app stores in China as the dispute between the giant and the Chinese government continues.

Android app stores, including those run by Huawei and Xiaomi, have either blocked downloads or removed the UC Browser from Alibaba, according to Huawei and Xiaomi phone owners who spoke to CNBC. American.
However, one of the owners of Samsung phones in China said that they can still see the browser in the Samsung application store, and the “UC” browser is still available also in the “Apple” application store.

This comes after the browser was criticized in a television program broadcast by the Chinese government’s “CCTV” station about misleading medical advertisements on the Internet.

The program accused the browser of promoting private hospitals and attracting patients to their websites instead of the public hospitals that they are supposed to visit.

A spokesperson for the UC team told the channel: “We attach great importance to the problems that the program has talked about, and we have quickly taken a series of measures to verify and correct.”

He added, that the illegal advertising contents that were referred to in the program were removed immediately, explaining that they will enhance the review of the content and bear more responsibility, in addition to providing good information services with more stringent standards.
