Moroccan singer Noura Fathy has crossed the one billion viewership barrier on YouTube, becoming the first African Arab to break the billion mark.
The video clip of “Dilbar” clip by singer and dancer Nora Fathy, who has Moroccan origins and works in Indian cinema, reached one billion views, breaking records at the time, as the clip exceeded 21 million views on the first day of its release.
Nora Fathy celebrated her achievement at the T-Series office in Mumbai as the first Arab-African woman to achieve this milestone. She posted pictures through her Instagram account and wrote: “What an amazing surprise..Thank you guys!”
She added, “Today, I became the first African Arab woman to reach a billion people on YouTube #dilbar! I could not have done that without your love and support .. Forever grateful .. and more to come.”
The song ”
Dilbert” appeared in the movie “Satyameva Jayate” directed by Melab Zafiri in 2018, in which John Abraham starred, while Nora Fathy inflamed the audience with her skills in belly dancing, making the clip the first Indian song to achieve such numbers in India.
Fathi surpassed her compatriot Saad Lamjarred, who was aspiring to achieve the title of the first Arab-African artist to achieve one billion views through a video clip for his famous song “You are a teacher”, for which he launched the “One Billion Campaign” to win the title.
