France imposes a lockdown on the Calais region at the weekend

French Prime Minister Jean Castex said that his country will expand closures due to Corona at the end of the week to the area around the coastal town of Calais, after similar closures around Nice and Dunkirk.

Castex added that the vaccination process will witness a faster pace as of the end of the week in 23 regions, pointing out that the British mutated Corona virus represents 60% of the cases recorded in the Ile Dufrance region.

He pointed out that by mid-May the health authorities will be able to vaccinate 20 million people, which constitutes all citizens over the age of 50 years.

He explained that recent studies have proven that the “AstraZeneca” vaccine is effective in the elderly, which removes previous fears of its ineffectiveness for this group.

Castex expected that his country would gradually receive, by the end of the summer, sufficient quantities of vaccines to vaccinate 30 million people over the age of 18 years.
