Dr. Olga Decker, a Russian nutritionist, revealed five types of the most beneficial nuts for the body, and recommends adding them to the diet.
The expert points out, first of all, almonds should be eaten, because they contain a high percentage of vitamin B and E, in addition to calcium, phosphorous, magnesium and manganese.
“Almonds contain many antioxidants. These substances prevent the development of cancer, heart disease and Alzheimer’s disease as well,” she says.
She adds, pistachios are low in calories and have a good amount of antioxidants. It is also rich in omega-3 fatty acids and dietary fiber.
“Pistachios also contain antioxidants, which prevent the development of cancer and chronic diseases. Lutein and zeaxanthin play a special role in improving visual acuity,” she says.
As for cashews, it is useful in lowering the level of blood pressure, because above all it contains vitamins B, K and E in addition to phosphorous, iron, magnesium, manganese, selenium and zinc.
Pecan nuts are no less beneficial, especially for those who suffer from heart disease and diabetes in its first and second forms.
