London: The British royal family has expressed its happiness that Prince Harry’s wife Megan Markle is pregnant with her second child, and wished them “happiness,” according to a spokesperson on Sunday evening.
A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said that Prince Harry’s grandparents, Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip, his father Prince Charles and “the entire royal family” are “delighted and send (Harry and Markle) their best wishes for happiness.”
A spokesman for Markle and Harry announced to the British media on Sunday evening that Markle is pregnant with her second child.
“We can confirm that Archie, the first son of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, will be a big brother,” said a spokesman for the couple, who gave up the main royal duties.
“The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are so happy that they are expecting their second child,” he added.
In his tweet, photographer Maysan Harriman posted a black and white photo of the couple smiling in front of a tree, while Megan laying her hand on her round stomach.
“Meg, I was at your wedding to witness the beginning of this love affair, and my friend is honored to see her grow,” wrote Harriman, described by British media as an old friend of the couple. “Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for this good news!”
Megan Markle revealed that she lost a fetus after a miscarriage last summer.
“The moment I was holding my first child in my arms, I knew that I would lose my second child,” the Duchess of Sussex wrote in an article published in the “New York Times” about the pain she had experienced with her husband due to this incident in July.
Markle wrote in her article that she was changing her son’s diapers when she felt a sharp muscle strain and fell to the ground. She added, “I knew the moment I was holding my first child in my arms, that I would lose my second child.” Harry and Megan sparked a big bang in the British royal family after announcing their withdrawal from royal life.
The couple ended their obligations within the royal family in March, following reports that Megan Markle was unhappy with her situation within the family and her great dissatisfaction with the media’s interference in her life.
