Disney has unveiled a first poster for the film Cruella, starring Emma Stone as the title character.
The poster consists of a close-up, black and white image of Stone with the character’s signature two-coloured hairdo. The title is scribbled next to the film’s scheduled release date of May 2021.
Cruella has been billed as an origin story of Cruella de Vil, the iconic villain portrayed by Glenn Close in the 1996 live-action film 101 Dalmatians and its 2000 sequel, 102 Dalmatians.
In addition to Tuesday’s poster, Disney announced that a first trailer would be unveiled the following day, writing: “Hello, Cruel World. New Trailer Tomorrow.”

The studio previously unveiled a first look of Stone as Cruella, this time showing her holding three leashed Dalmatians.
The film is currently scheduled for release on 28 May 2021 in the US and in the UK.
It was directed by Craig Gillespie, the filmmaker behind the 2017 Tonya Harding biopic I, Tonya starring Margot Robbie as the figure skater.
Stone’s recent film credits include the 2019 Zombieland: Double Tap, as well as Yorgos Lanthimos’s 2018 The Favourite.
Her performance in the 2016 La La Land earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress.
