19 members of the “Boko Haram” terrorist group were killed in a military operation launched by the army in northeastern Nigeria.
This came according to news reported by local media, on Wednesday, according to statements issued by a high-ranking military official, who refused to reveal his identity.
The military official said that clashes took place between the organization’s members and army soldiers in the “Rann” region of Borno region, in the northeast of the country.
He pointed out that the clashes resulted in the death of 19 “Boko Haram” members, as well as the injury of a large number of terrorists.
The official stated that a soldier was wounded in the operation, adding that 5 armed vehicles and large quantities of ammunition were also seized.
Since 2009, Boko Haram acts of violence have killed more than 20,000 people and displaced millions in Nigeria.
Since 2015, the organization has launched attacks in neighboring countries such as Cameroon, Chad and Niger.
