Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu expressed his hope that Washington, under the new US administration headed by Joe Biden, will return to the nuclear agreement with Iran.
Cavusoglu said during a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif, in Istanbul, Friday, that “we hope that the Biden administration will return to the nuclear agreement and lift the blockade measures against brotherly Iran.”
He affirmed Turkey’s support from the beginning of the nuclear agreement, and its contribution to that even before its conclusion.
He pointed out that he discussed with his Iranian counterpart the bilateral relations extensively, and ways to hold meetings after this was not possible due to the Corona pandemic.
In a separate context, Cavusoglu touched on the issue of the Turkish sailors kidnapped in the Gulf of Guinea, pointing out that he had received information that the sailors were well, adding: “We will announce good news soon.”
