United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres expressed his hope for a “reset” of US-China relations.
Guterres acknowledged that the two countries have different views on human rights, but they have to work together on climate change.
He said, “I hope that we will see a reset in relations between the United States and China .. It is clear that there are two completely different views on human rights, and that there is no room for an agreement or a common vision on this issue.”
He added, “There is an area in which I believe there is an increasing convergence of interests, and I appeal to both sides to move together with the entire international community, and this area is climate action.”
