US President Joe Biden signed a resolution canceling the changes made by former President Donald Trump to health insurance and the Women’s Health Initiative.
Biden said before signing: “Today I signed two decrees to undo the damage done by Trump … I do not pass a new law or change anything, but rather return the matter to what it was.”
“We are only reinstating the law on affordable healthcare and Medicare before Trump became president and made the changes, making the programs unavailable and more difficult to participate in,” he added.
The abolition of preferential health insurance and health care for the elderly adopted under President Barack Obama was one of the central positions in Trump’s campaign rhetoric.
Trump was unable to repeal the law through Congress, but through decrees he introduced changes to the relevant legislation.
